I am a little slow to putting this up but two weeks ago I ventured off to the DR for 9 days with my friends Kate and Megan to visit one of their friends, Rebecca, that lives in Santo Domingo. Here are our adventures:
Day 1: I meet Kate and Megan in the Miami airport and grab a couple of cocktails. We board the plane filled with excitement and chatted away. Around 8 ‘clock we arrive in Santo Domingo to find Rebecca and Dante waiting for us. We go to her apartment (30 minutes from airport), drop off our belongings, head to dinner, and call it an early night.

Miami airport= start of vacation!!

On the top floor of the building is Rebecca’s apartment

These are the steps we had to travel up with luggage in hand. At least no one fell…

This is Candy, the downstairs neighbor’s dog.

Day 2: We wake up around 6:30 am to catch a bus to Las Terrenas, which is about 3 hours away. Once in Las Terrenas we get to our hotel, Iguana Hotel, grab a bite to eat and then take a long stroll down the beach. We hang out on the beach drinking Presidentes until dark and then decide to take a few motoconchos back to the hotel (we grab a bottle of rum on the way). Motoconchos, motorbikes, are the cheapest form of transportation in the DR and will cost you about 2-3 dollars to hop on the back of one. I will tell you though, they are pretty dangerous (I feared for my life at one point). Also when you get on one make sure you get on from the left side or else you will burn the shit out of your calf from the scolding hot exhaust pipe (I have the scar to tell me this). Once at the hotel we just relaxed the rest of the night on our porch drinking rum and coke talking the night away.
